INTRODUCING MACA ROOT

Maca is a turnip like vegetable that grows at altitudes at and above 13,000 ft (3200 m) in the Andes. As the world’s highest growing crop, Maca is incredibly hardy, thriving in an inhospitable environment of rocky soil, extreme temperatures, high winds and intense sunlight. The plant produces a small root that has been treasured by natives of the high Andes for 1000s of years. Traditionally, Maca root is ground into a powder and eaten as a staple food to help improve fertility, to boost stamina and to provide a nutritional boost.

MACA’S BROAD RANGING BENEFITS

Since the late 1980s Maca’s fame as a “superfood” has spread beyond the Andes. Today people all over the world enjoy many benefits from taking Maca powder. Both scientific research and anecdotal evidence suggest that Maca can work to balance hormones, increase fertility, boost energy, enhance libido, build muscle, improve mood and more.

HOW MACA POWDER WORKS

Maca is one of the world’s most nutritionally dense foods. It contains nearly all essential amino acids and free fatty acids, significant levels of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, and C, and minerals iron, magnesium, zinc and calcium, a high concentration of bio-available protein and several glucosinolates. This alone makes Maca a nutritional powerhouse. But Maca powder also contains unique acids called macaenes and macamides, which are thought to play a key role in balancing hormones in both men and women. Finally Maca is also considered to be an “adaptogen,” or one of the rare species of plants that raise the overall life force energy of those who consume it.
